Harold & Willa

We are one of the longest operating B&B's in the area.
We started after our early retirement and opened our doors in year 2000. We enjoy meeting our guests from all walks of life and all parts of the world. Nelson is such a wonderful area to share with you.

We keep active in all sorts of activities during the summer and winter. Harold has his golf, motorcycle and, downhill skiing and Willa enjoys dragon boating, gardening and x-country skiing. We also are involved in many community organizations.

We are very familiar with the charm and unique character of the Kootenays and are always willing to pass the information along to our guests so they will have a great stay with us.

The word Taghum means "six" in the Chinook Jargon and is a reference to the rough distance in miles from the wharf at the city of Nelson. Just an eight-minute drive brings you the opportunity of watching heron, osprey, eagles, beavers and otters from the privacy of your bedroom or on the landscaped gardens and beach.

After a peaceful night's sleep, awake with a magnificent view of the Kootenay River and the aroma of fresh ground Kootenay roasted organic coffee. Dine in the sunroom or outside on the deck for a creative breakfast individually prepared for you.

Your breakfast is prepared with farm-fresh eggs, homemade breads (wholegrain, raisin, scones, etc.) garden preserves made from our many fruit trees, fresh fruit, yogurt and homemade granola, English tea or a variety of herbal teas of your choice!

Spend the day exploring the many hiking, biking and variety of walking paths in the area. Golf courses are minutes away. And the Whitewater Ski Resort is a short drive away.

The City of Nelson is always an adventure as you mingle with the locals, checking out the boutiques, sporting good shops, health food stores and locally made arts and craft shops.

Heritage buildings date back to the early 1800's and have been beautifully restored. Walking and driving tour brochures are readily available. Streetcar #23 runs in the summer and brings you back to the era of the mining days.

There is no doubt you'll have a fantastic experience at Beach Taghum B&B.
